[ Andre - Caspian - Celino - Cesar - Coliet - Cor - Cornelius - Erin - Fenris ]
[ Geddes - Herman - Insandru - Janes - Juniper - Karen - Kaya - Leonard ]
[ Mysterious Masked Man - Nate - Nero - Oxbeard - Quentin - Robin ]
[ Shen - Tatiana - Timothy - Tristan - Vinn - Vizen ]
Andre Duprei - One of the ciphers raised at the guild along with Karen. Andre is a bully and a braggart, but despite all his bravado his skill with psionics is pretty low. Andre delights in antagonizing Nero, the only student at the guild with less psionic talent than he. Andre thinks he's next in line (after Karen) to embark on his one-year initiation journey, but his lack of practical training will probably cause Guildmaster Celino to deny his request.
Caspian Lunier - An old wild-card cipher. Rather than shun his emotional attachment to things in the world (like most ciphers do) Caspian instead embraced them, and blended his psionics together with other skills of his own design. As a result Caspian posseses a psionic skillset unlike any other cipher in the world. Unfortunately, he's also highly eccentric and very reclusive; it's just never possible to tell whose side Caspian is on.
Celino Delmarque - Guildmaster of the only remaining Tekiel Cipher Guild. What Celino lacks in psionic talent, he makes up for with his indomitable sense of duty. When his partner (assigned to the guild by King Deran) went missing, the task of running the guild and training its students fell squarely on Celino. Nowadays much of the training is handled by Celino's star students Erin and Karen, but he still keeps a watchful eye over all of them as though they were his own children.
Cesar LeGuarde - The #1 fashion designer in all of Tekiel. His personality is flamboyant and grating, but his genius with clothes is undeniable. Karen is one of his favorite customers, although she sometimes has trouble keeping up with the latest trends because of her guild duties.
Coliet Thunderclap - Proud member of one of the holy orders of paladins in the nation of Gen-Ri, Coliet has found himself wallowing at Rank Four for most of his career. In the eyes of the church, he is forever living in the shadow of his younger sister, who has long since attained Rank One. Like all paladins, Coliet was made to abandon his family name upon joining his order; his new name was given to him after slaying a monster with a lightning-based sword technique.
Cor Qunaji - Vizen and Shen's eldest student before they torched their guild and faked their deaths. Cor was placed in charge of an official investigation by the crown, and his path led him all the way to Gen-Ri where he met up with Vizen, who was very much alive. Cor then resumed his training until he and Vizen had a falling out. He now seeks to train new ciphers in the psionic arts Vizen considers "forbidden".
Cornelius LeGuarde - A jolly, soft-spoken man who is highly fascinated by the design of dungeons. Has his very own dungeon somewhere in southern Tekiel that he is constantly modifying based on the dungeons he studies during his travels.
Erin Quistal - The oldest and most advanced of all the ciphers at Celino's guild. Erin is quiet and distant but always respectful of her peers. Erin was the first of Celino's students to complete the traditional year-long training journey, although the events of that journey are known only to she and her guildmaster. Erin is also Celino's second-in-command, and she handles much of the training for the younger students.
Fenris Demnepthe - A traveling swordsman who has taken a shine to Karen. Skilled in the arts of Bladesong and rumored to have ties to the Whispering Wyrm, a criminal organization in Tekiel.
Geddes - Overseer of the logging industry located in Darmenia. Now that the town has been destroyed by the tatheril, he is left with the unseemly task of rebuilding.
Herman Roose - A former student at Celino's guild, Herman left his training once the war ended and inhereted his family's profitable mining business. He now spends his days in the mines of Kyrie Desert, bottling pink sludge and selling it as a cure for petrification.
Insandru - The tatheril Karen encounters during her visit in Capitol City. Very little is known about Insandru (not even his name... oops!), but on thing's for sure: he's up to no good. Karen has theorized that Insandru or one of his tatheril lackeys is the cause of Princess Naomi's recent illness, and it's almost certain he's behind the attack on the logging town of Darmenia.
Cap'n Janes - Captain of a trade ship that travels between the ports of Pointe Coven, Frau and Capital City. Lately he's been having a hard time of it, thanks to trade sanctions leveled at Tekiel from the Gen-Ri church.
Juniper Redmond - At the young age of sixteen Juniper is already a fearsome pirate and a highly-skilled bladesinger. She's the daughter of the legendary Captain Oxbeard, and it's pretty obvious that she's inhereted all his best (and worst) qualities.
Karen Garnet - Perhaps the most promising up-and-coming cipher at Celino's guild, Karen has just finished the traditional year-long training journey all ciphers must complete. During her travels she was able to meet her parents for the first time. Though she is the sole heiress of her family's vast fortune (her little brother disappeared years ago), Karen considers it more important to complete her training and master all the various arts of psionics. Unlike Erin, her closest match in skill, Karen has managed to become an accomplished cipher without sacrificing much of her humanity.
Kaya Bauer - A young woman born in Gen-Ri. Not long after Vizen Vidal started his cipher guild, Kaya showed up on his doorstep. Without asking much about her past, Vizen trained her as a cipher. Kaya is now the senior cipher at the Gen-Ri guild, and knows a level of freedom and responsibility most women in Gen-Ri do not dream of.
Leonard - A recent addition to Celino's cipher guild, Leonard is really just hiding out from his parents (who want him to be a lawyer). Though he shows an earnest interest in psionics and the history of the guild, he'll probably never attain any amount of psionic skill. In other words, he's a somewhat curious freeloading bum.
Mysterious Masked Man - Though nothing is known about this man's true intentions, he makes a living (somehow) by traveling around from dungeon to dungeon concocting challenges for adventurers.
Nate Garnet - Karen's younger brother. He ran away from home when he was a child after learning about her existence, thinking he could find her and bring her home. His journeys led him to Gen-Ri, however, where he wound up at Vizen Vidal's new cipher guild. Nate elected to stay on and train in the arts of bioregulation, a school of psionics used for healing.
Nero Feign - Though raised at Celino's guild alongside Erin, Karen and Andre, Nero has never developed a single psionic talent. He has long since given up any hope of becoming a cipher and has instead focused on training in the martial and culinary arts. Though he lacks confidence and is somewhat clumsy, Nero is a fearsome hand-to-hand combatant and possibly the finest chef in western Tekiel. Nero is well-liked wherever he goes, and would fight to the death to protect those he loves.
Captain Oxbeard - The now-legendary Captain Oxbeard was once a humble seafaring merchant until King Deran of Tekiel sparked his war and made the seas unsafe. After a harsh storm his vessel, the Crystalwind, ran afoul of a cipher supply ship. During the ensuing battle, Oxbeard lost his beloved wife Louise. He has since plundered anything bearing the royal seal of Tekiel, and has sworn revenge against all ciphers.
Quentin Garnet - The wealthiest man in Tekiel, probably one of the most well-read, and almost certainly the most generous.. Owns and operates the vast Garnet Estate in North Orin. Though he is Karen's father, he has only met her once since she was wrested from his household to be taken to the cipher guild years ago. Because of this, Quentin has over the years invested a great deal of time and money into learning about ciphers so that he may better understand his daughter's situation.
Robin Tanjewel - The Tanjewel clan has long been known for their advances in science and technology. Robin has spent her entire life tinkering with and perfecting various gadgets and gizmos both of her own design and left to her by her late father. Robin has a boundless imagination but also a pretty scary temper. Robin recently has learned the whereabouts of her kid brother Timothy, who was taken from her family to be raised at a cipher guild. Her fondest dream includes Timothy embracing his family's gearhead legacy.
Shen Ampetoi - Born in and subsequentially exiled from Gen-Ri (under circumstances he does not disclose), Shen is nonetheless devoted to the tenants of the Gen-Ri church. He began studying psionics in order to better combat the blaspheme therein, and before long as a skilled cipher himself. Shen was chosen to head a cipher guild along with Vizen Vidal, but the two of them faked their deaths and abandoned their duties when they could no longer bring themselves to do King Deran's bidding. Shen has since taken up the practice of medicine in the icy land of Khalisto.
Tatiana Garnet - Wife of Quentin Garnet and thus one of the wealthiest women in Tekiel, Tatiana spends her days in her art studio at the Garnet Estate, or quitely tending her gardens. Through various twists of fate Tatiana has lost both of her children to the cipher guilds. A simple woman originally from Gen-Ri, Tatiana would eagerly trade all her fortune and social status just for the chance to raise a normal family.
Timothy Tanjewel - Timothy is the youngest of the original group of children brought to Celino's guild for training; all the others have since left to rejoin their families or persue endevours elsewhere. Timothy shows a great level of promise despite his young age, and like Karen has decided to see his training through to the end. Though he looks forward to meeting his big sister Robin, he has no real inclination to join her at her lab or abandon his friends at the guild.
Tristan Ilnoir - One of the students at the guild Vizen and Shen abandoned, Tristan found himself with too much ambition and not enough instruction. As a result he sought the secrets of ABR on his own, and has forgotten much of what once made him human.
Vinn Elshing - Monster hunter and part-time angst-riddled anti-hero. For a nominal fee he can track down any boss monsters you forgot to Analyze, so you never have to worry about having an incomplete set of monster data.
Vizen Vidal - An old, grizzled master cipher. He long served King Deran as a political advisor, and was a natural choice to act as guildmaster for one of Tekiel's two cipher guilds. Vizen always had reservations about Deran's plans, and after several years of service staged his own demise in order to escape the country. Vizen has since started the first Gen-Ri cipher guild in order to counterbalance Tekiel's would-be psionic army, and holds his ground despite the constant badgering of the church.
