Download KC(A)#2!

The current KC demo is KC(A)#3. It was released in June 2006.

KC(A)#3 is sort of a demo and it sort of isn't. Unlike most folks in the RM* world, I don't hold any illusions about actually finishing my game. While I hope I do, and I'm constantly striving towards that ultimate goal, it isn't very likely. So instead of realeasing a "demo" version and a "full" version, I just release a new version whenever another sizable section of the game is done. The first demo was KC(A)#1 and the next one will be KC(A)#4... like that.

You'll need WinRar or something to extract the archive. Once it's extracted, run RPG_RT.exe to play the game.
- Download KC(A)#3 - 7.4 MB

If you downloaded KC(A)#3 before 7.6.06, you'll also need this bugfix patch. Just extract it right into the main KC directory.
- KC(A)#3 Bugfix Patch - 123 KB

If you play the game and the fonts look all funky, you may need to install the RM2k3 fonts. KC(A) uses MS Gothic, which I'll provide here. Just extract the archive to your Windows/Fonts directory and everything should be gravy.
- Download MS Gothic font - 3.2 MB

Note to people who complain about RTP files: even if I were to remove all the RTP files KC(A)#2 uses, the overall filesize of the .rar would not be reduced much. Most of the charsets and tilesets I use are hacked apart and reformed into more useful resources. My sanity is more important than your time, so just suck it up and download the big file.

The old version of KC was made with RPG Maker 2000 over the course of about two years. I estimate about half the story was finished by the time I eventually quit working on it. The reason for quitting was a simple lack of motivation, caused by a dissatisfaction in the earlier portions of the game. I decided since I had to go back and rebuild all that stuff anyway, I might as well just remake the entire game.

The last KC demo was KC#8. It contains about seven hours of gameplay but doesn't get good until the third or fourth hour (in my opinion). Also, some of the character and plot data is obsolete... but that's a story for another day.

Download KC#8 - 7.9 MB

Warning: don't try to open KC#8 with RM2k3. It'll screw all the battles up and cause the game to be unplayable. If you absolutely must screw around with the maps and code, install RM2k and open it with that instead.
